Charlotte native and former ECU football player Blake Proehl received a golden ticket on the season debut episode of American Idol. Proehl played football at Providence High School before going to ECU. He’s also the son of former Panther Ricky Proehl. Proehl declared for the 2021 draft, went undrafted, eventually signing with the Vikings but was sidelined due to injury. He’s currently a free agent and making the transition to music.
