While this is a time of unprecedented uncertainty for all of us, it’s also a time of unprecedented unity. By keeping our distance, together we are supporting the most vulnerable members of our community. Now we have another critical opportunity to help our neighbors in need.
This crisis has pushed thousands of local families over the delicate edge of poverty, who are now having to choose between rent, food, or utilities — let alone school supplies to continue learning at home. Our students can’t afford to keep up in school, but they also can’t afford to fall behind.
That’s why we need your help. Will you make a gift to our Emergency Fund today? Our Emergency Fund will allow the flexibility to promptly shift resources as needed to meet the evolving needs of our local students and teachers. For every dollar you donate, Classroom Central distributes $9 worth of school supplies. And right now a generous donor has pledged a dollar-for-dollar match for every gift made in May, up to $10,000!
As quickly as our incredible teachers have adapted to remote learning, Classroom Central — classified as an essential business in Mecklenburg County — has been working hard responding to this crisis by:
- Opening a Teacher Drive-Thru, following strict safety protocols and procedures, which allows teachers to pick up a pre-packed bag of materials to assist while teaching remotely.
- Deploying nearly 20,000 distance learning supply kits to Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and Gaston County Schools.
- Partnering with local food pantries and domestic violence shelters to provide homeless families with school supplies and hygiene kits.
- Gearing up for back-to-school knowing the needs will be even greater than in the past!
Your gift will immediately impact local families and ensure every student and teacher has access to the supplies they need to succeed.
Let’s erase the need, together.
