Shots Fired as Mom Drops Off Child at Charlotte School

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Police responded to a shots fired call at Villa Heights Elementary School near North Davidson Street Thursday morning.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said a mother pulled into the school’s parking lot around 7:20 a.m. to drop off her child.

They said she was about to take the child inside when a man she knew walked up to her car and fired a gun.

No one was hit by the gunfire.

Police said the shooter drove away and is still on the loose.

Channel 9 learned there weren’t a lot of children in the parking lot when the shot was fired, because school doesn’t start until 8 a.m.
