Man, I love Kid Rock! I became a fan on his "Devil Without A Cause" tour. A friend of mine had an extra ticket to his concert and asked if I wanted to go. At that point I had never heard of him, but I'm always up for an adventure and am ALWAYS wanting to be introduced to new music, so I went. I am so glad I did! I remember him coming out on stage and talking about being "platinum," which means he had sold over a million records. I asked my friend "is he really platinum?" and my friend nodded yes. I thought to myself "HOW have I never heard of this PLATINUM artist??" But it didn't matter... I went in to that concert not knowing who he was and walked out a diehard fan.
I can't tell you how many times I've seen him perform since then (it's a LOT!), but I am always ready for my next Kid Rock show. And it just so happens the next one is this Saturday! Kid Rock is headlining the Rock The Country tour, which kicks off this weekend in Gonzales, LA at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center. Friday, the festival opens at 3pm and the music gets going at 4pm with Kolby Cooper, followed by Elvie Shane, Travis Tritt, Koe Wetzel, and Jason Aldean. Saturday, it's Sadie Bass at 3:30, followed by Gavin Adcock, Uncle Kracker, Big and Rich featuring Gretchen Wilson, Hank Williams Jr., a "huge surprise guest," and then Kid Rock will cap it all off.
Kid Rock called today to chat about Rock The Country, the tour, the artists, and how it all came together. And of course I had to ask about that "huge surprise guest." He gave a hint!
There are still tickets left to Rock The Country. Get those here, and check out my chat with Kid Rock below!
