I have been a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley and I CANNOT WAIT for Baz Lurhmann's ELVIS to hit theaters June 24th. This is going to be epic!
In my opinion, there have been three actors that have immersed themselves so deep into the rock stars that they have portrayed that by the end of the movie, you forget you're watching an actor and not the real rock star! First it was Val Kilmer transforming into Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone's The Doors. Then came Rami Malek when he played Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. And I loved Taron Egerton as Elton John in Rocketman. Something tells me that come June 24th, I'll be adding a fourth actor to that list. Check out the trailer to ELVIS below. I mean, did Austin Butler completely morph into Elvis Presley or what?!?!?! WOW!
But my excitement for this movie doesn't stop there. I remember watching Moulin Rouge at the theater and thinking how "colorful" the movie was. If you've seen the movie, you know exactly what I am talking about. It was aesthetically gorgeous! Come to find out, that was the incredible work of filmmaker Baz Luhrmann. Several year later, I was at the movie theater watching The Great Gatsby (the one with Leonardo DiCaprio) and it, too, was very "colorful." Sure enough, it was more spectacular work from Baz Luhrmann! Being such a big fan of those two movies and knowing how picky Baz Luhrmann must be to have his pictures look the way they do, I just don't see how he could go wrong when recreating the life and times of "The King Of Rock And Roll!"
And as if that's not enough, did I mention that Tom Hanks is in the movie? What can I possible say about Tom Hanks that hasn't already been said? He's in several of my favorite movies, including Bachelor Party (an oldie but a goodie... if you've never seen Bachelor Party, do yourself a favor and WATCH IT!!!), That Thing You Do, and Catch Me If You Can... and those are just MY favorite Tom Hanks movies. Everyone loves Big and Forrest Gump and Castaway and Saving Private Ryan and Toy Story and You've Got Mail and Sleepless In Seattle and... my goodness... the list just goes on and on and on!!! To say Tom Hanks is "amazing" or "incredible" just doesn't seem like a big enough words! So needless to say, it's going to be a real treat to watch him transform into Colonel Tom Parker in ELVIS.
This is going to be SO GOOD! June 24th can't get here fast enough!
