Meet NASCAR Cup Series Rookie Quin Houff

Covid-19 has certainly changed the 2020 NASCAR season! The season kicked off in February in the usual manner with a thrilling Daytona 500, followed by NASCAR's "west coast swing" with trips to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, and Phoenix Raceway, and then things came to a screeching halt. Thanks to Coronavirus, NASCAR was on hiatus for 10 long weeks, but it finally returned in mid-May with a revamped schedule and a whole new set of rules and regulations.

On the bright side, every NASCAR race has been full of action and us fans have been treated to some GREAT racing ever since it's return, and I am sure that the trend will continue tomorrow night! For the first time ever, NASCAR's All-Star Open and All-Star Race will be run at Bristol Motor Speedway. The Open will be on Fox Sports 1 at 7 EDT, and the All-Star Race is slated to follow it at 8:30, also on Fox Sports 1. These will be the final races for Fox's half of the season, and then the Cup series will venture to Texas Motor Speedway for Sunday's O'Reilly Auto Parts 500, which will air at 3pm EDT on NBCSN.

Quin Houff is competing for Rookie of the Year honors this year, and what a year to compete! First there was the aforementioned hiatus... but with NASCAR's new rules, teams have no practice and no qualifying prior to each race, so lap one of the race is typically the first time that a driver will venture on to the track. Can you imagine being a rookie, having never been to certain tracks before, and never so much as turning one lap before the green flag drops? That certainly adds a whole other level of difficulty, but if there is any rookie that is up for that challenge and taking it all in stride, it's Quin Houff. Quin was nice enough to call and chat racing, being a rookie in 2020, and more. Here's our chat in it's entirety...
