Tomorrow (Saturday, June 20th) at 5:43pm EDT, summer will officially begin, as that is the June solstice. But on the other side of the globe in Africa and Asia, people will get more than summer... they'll get an eclipse known as the "Ring Of Fire" solar eclipse. During the eclipse, the moon will be near aphelion, which is the point in orbit when the moon is the farthest away from the earth. During this time, the moon is too far from the earth to completely block out the sun, so there will be a ring of light around the moon from the sun behind it when it moves into that eclipse position, and that is how the term "ring of fire" came about.
