Breaking: Carolina Panthers fire coach Ron Rivera

The Carolina Panthers have parted ways with Coach Ron Rivera. The search is on for a new coach, but in the meantime, secondary coach Perry Fewell will be the interim head coach, offensive coordinator Norv Turner will become the special assistant to the head coach, and quarterbacks coach Scott Turner will become offensive coordinator.

Over the course of Rivera's nine seasons as head coach, the Panthers had a 76-63-1 regular season record and were 3-4 in postseason. They made one Super Bowl appearance, and had one NFC Championship and three NFC South titles.
