It's finally here! It's Bank of America ROVAL 400 weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway! If you know me, you know I'm a big race fan. I love ovals and I love road courses... so OF COURSE I love it when you combine the two and come up with Charlotte's ROVAL!
Last year had SO MANY amazing moments, from Sherry Pollex driving the "Sherry Strong" Pace Car (and those "love taps" on the bumper of her car from her longtime partner Martin Truex Jr. on the pace laps) to Truex Jr. battling it out with Jimmie Johnson on the last lap, only to take each other out and see Ryan Blaney slip through for the win. I am sure that this weekend will provide much of the same action!
Today is Bojangles Qualifying Day. Tomorrow, the Xfinity Series' Drive for the Cure 250 presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina gets underway, and Sunday, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series takes to the track for the Bank of America Roval 400. In addition to the racing action, there is a "Rock the Roval" concert tomorrow featuring YACHT Rock Revue and Tim Duggar concerts, and you've been hearing us talk about Chris Lane doing the pre-race concert before the cup race Sunday... that's going to be at 12:30 on the frontstretch and a ton of fun! Plus Mario Andretti will be the honorary pace car driver Sunday! So what are you waiting for? Get your tickets here or at 800-455-FANS. Kids 13 and under get in for just $10 to the Bank of America Roval 400, and they're free Friday and Saturday. Plus there are some pretty amazing weekend packages available starting at just $79.
If you can't make it to the track, be sure to at least watch the race. Saturday's Xfinity race is at 3:30pm on NBCSN, and Sunday's Cup race will be on NBC at 2:30.
When you tune into the races on NBC, one of the familiar faces that you'll see is Dale Jarrett's. Dale Jarrett was the 1999 NASCAR Cup Series Champion, a 2014 NASCAR Hall Of Fame Inductee, and is now a fantastic broadcaster for NBC Sports. Who better to chat all things ROVAL with than someone like DJ?! It was such an honor to have take time to call and chat about this weekend's festivities... and what a nice guy! Here is our chat in it's entirety.
See you at the track!
