Chatting with NASCAR Driver Michael McDowell

Ask a NASCAR fan if they like road course racing, and you usually get one of two answers... an emphatic YES! Or an emphatic NO! It truly seems like there is no middle ground. I have NEVER heard anybody say "eh, it's OK."

You can count me as one of the ones that LOVES road course racing! I certainly love the ovals, but there is something cool about watching drivers go left AND right, especially when it's a bulky stock car. And sure, I love watching Indycars and F1 race the road courses, but there's just something extra cool about NASCAR doing it...

This Sunday, you will definitely find me on the couch watching the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race from Watkins Glen, a phenomenal 2.45 mile track with seven turns. And who better to chat about road course racing with than NASCAR driver Michael McDowell?! Like me, he loves road course racing... from a different perspective, of course. And he is just an all-around good guy.

In our chat, you'll hear us talk about Go Pro Motorplex in Mooresville, which is a kart track he co-owns with driver Justin Marks. That place is AMAZING! I had so much fun going there, and if you're looking for the best karting in North Carolina... heck, the best karting in the US... you gotta check it out! Here is their website.

In the meantime, be sure to catch the Go Bowling at the Glen Sunday afternoon at 3 on NBCSN. If you're on the fence about road course racing, I bet you'll be a big fan by the time the checkered flag waves.
