Joey Chestnut wins Hot Dog eating contest for 12th time

The Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating contest is Fourth of July tradition. Competitive eaters converge on Coney Island in New York to vie for the Mustard Belt, and for 12 years, Joey "Jaws" Chestnut has been the undisputed champion, including four of the last five years. Chesnut has also bested his own record several times and he is the current record holder with 74 hot dogs in ten minutes, which was what he accomplished last year. This year, he set out to beat his own record but fell just short, downing 71 hot dogs in 10 minutes. Nonetheless, he still beat second place Darron Breeden by 21 dogs. Darron ate 50, while third place Geoffrey Esper ate 47.

On the women's side, Miki Sudo won for a sixth time, eating 31 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

It's not just hot dogs that Joey eats! He has a total of 40 eating records in everything from hot dogs to apple pie to burritos. He says the only thing that he won't touch is kale! Check out Joey's amazing feat from this year.
