Woman Rescued from Charlotte Storm Damage

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — At least one person is facing life-threatening injuries after a tree caused extensive damage to a home in south Charlotte Monday morning.

Around 6 a.m. during strong winds, a tree fell onto the homes along Countrymens Court.

Firefighters searched the debris and rescued at least one person from the damage. That woman was transported to Atrium Health's Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte for treatment of life threatening injuries.

"All of a sudden we heard a big boom and we came outside and pretty much saw all of this right here," said a neighbor. "Our neighbor, she was trapped. She was trapped, so we heard her screaming so we ended up calling the ambulance and knocking on the door and made sure she was OK."
