A Zamboni driver saved the day and led the Carolina Hurricanes to victory! Over the weekend, the Carolina Hurricanes were in Canada playing the Toronto Maple Leafs when both starting and backup goalies got injured. All NHL teams are required to have an emergency goalie on hand and that's when the 42-year-old Zamboni driver David Ayres got a chance to play! Ayres suited up and hit the ice!! Things were a little shaky at first and he let two shots get by him but then he settled and stopped the next eight. With the help of Ayres, Carolina won 6-3 over Toronto! Ayres became the first emergency goalie to be credited a win NHL history and the oldest to win his regular-season debut.
