NC Bicycle Bill May Have You Registering Your Bicycle At The DMV

A new bill in North Carolina would require people in the state to register their bicycle. (Yes, we are talking about a bicycle with pedals and no motor). According to WSOCTV, Alexander County Rep. Jeffrey Elmore filed House Bill 157 on Monday. The bill would require anyone who is 16-years-old or older to make a trip to the DMV and register their bike. You would be required to pay an annual registration fee of $10 and you would also need a licence plate for your bike. If you don't follow these rules you could get fined $25. The fees collected would be used for projects like increasing the amount of bike lanes for riders. You can get more information about House Bill 157 HERE
