CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Police have descended on an apartment complex in southeast Charlotte after they said a man barricaded himself inside a unit Thursday morning.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene around 11 a.m. at the McAlpine Ridge Apartments on Krefeld Glen Drive, off Independence Boulevard, and watched as officers positioned themselves behind vehicles in the parking lot, with their rifles drawn.
According to police sources, officers got behind a vehicle just before 11 a.m., but that vehicle sped off. The driver stopped the car at the apartment complex and jumped out. Sources told Channel 9 the driver, a man, went into an apartment and came back outside with a gun before going back inside.
