Jonathan Stewart Cut by the Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers have released running back Jonathan Stewart on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

This comes a day after Marty Hurney and the Panthers released both Kurt Coleman and Charles Johnson.

The reasoning per the Panthers is to give them significant salary cap relief and allow younger players to get more opportunities to play.

Stewart has been with the Panthers since he was drafted in 2008 and is the team's all-time leading rusher.

New Panthers general manager Marty Hurney is making significant moves after he replaced Dave Gettleman.
