Wingate University went on lockdown early Monday morning after a man was shot near the campus.
Police are actively searching for a black male with a long black gun wearing a blue and black windbreaker and brown Timberland boots. The suspect was last seen on Jerome Street across from Wingate University's entrance.
The man, 50-year-old Prentis Robinson, was filming a Facebook Live video around 10 a.m. Monday morning, when an armed man came up to him. Robinson repeated "you're on live" multiple times before shots rang out and the phone fall face up on the ground.
The video caught glimpses of the suspect, who is still at large and armed and dangerous.
Wingate University lifted the lockdown at 1 p.m. and assured students there is no active shooter on campus.
