Outlaw Showdown
Location: The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway, 5500 Concord Pkwy S, Concord, NC 28027
Info: Dirt will fly when the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series takes on The Dirt Track at Charlotte on May 26th for the Outlaw Showdown. Drivers will compete for prize money and prestige in winged, 850-horsepower open-wheel, sprint cars on the lightning-fast, four-tenths-mile clay oval. The undercard features the South Eastern Crate Association features regional racers competing in equally powered late model race cars in the series’ biggest event of the year.

Veterans Fishing Day
Location: Charles D Owen Park, Swannanoa, NC
Info: On Saturday, May 27, 2017, Buncombe County Recreation Services, will host a Veterans Fishing Day at Charles D. Owen Park in Swannanoa (875 Warren Wilson Road, Swannanoa, NC 28778). The fishing tournament is open to all veterans. Veterans who register for the event (with proof of veterans status including VA Card, Military ID, NCDL with Veteran status or DD214 form) and their guests will be able to fish at Owen Pond during the event regardless of whether they currently hold a NC Fishing License.

The Patriot Festival Go the Extra Mile 5K

Kannapolis Memorial Day Parade
Location: Veterans Park, 119 N. Main St, Kannapolis NC
Info: The Kannapolis Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will be held in Veterans Park on Monday, May 29th. The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. and travels down Main Street in Kannapolis from the North Carolina Research Campus parking deck to Veterans Park. At the conclusion of the parade a ceremony honoring all Post Vietnam Veterans will be held. Guest speakers are Josh White and Kendrick Carroll
Huntersville Memorial Day Celebration
