Man Pleads Guilty to Making Hundreds of Bomb Threats to NC Businesses

Cody Startt, 27, has pleaded guilty to making nearly 400 bomb threats to various businesses in North Carolina.  

The district attorney in Morganton, N.C. said Startt had been calling in bomb threats for more than two months to businesses in Burke, Caldwell and Catawba counties and cost businesses $750,000.

He pleaded guilty to 253 counts of terrorism, 251 counts of false bomb reports and two counts of false bomb report of public building.

According to the Morganton Public Safety chief, they responded to 269 bomb threats in 45 days and Startt used apps to listen to the response from police after his threats. 

Startt was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
