Chatting with William Byron

Charlotte native William Byron had great couple of weeks at Charlotte Motor Speedway! A week ago Saturday, he raced his way into the All-Star Race via winning the first stage at the Open. He went on to finish 9th. And then last Thursday at Coca-Cola 600 qualifying, he put his #24 car on the pole for Sunday's race. By doing so, he became the youngest pole sitter in Coke 600 history. After leading many laps, he went on to finish an impressive 9th in that race.

This weekend, NASCAR is headed to Long Pond, Pennsylvania for the Pocono 400, which you can catch Sunday afternoon at 2 on Fox Sports 1, or if you're up for a road trip, here's a link to get tickets. William was nice enough to call in this afternoon and we chatted about his great couple of weeks at his home track of Charlotte as well as the upcoming race at Pocono. Here is our conversation in it's entirety.

Chatting with William Byron

As I mentioned in our chat, I was at Charlotte this past Sunday evening for the race and during the pace laps, the cars did a three-wide salute. I thought that was pretty cool! Here's a picture that I took of that salute with Byron on the pole position in the Liberty University Chevy. How cool for him to get to experience leading this field to green!
