This plate shames you when you Instagram your food

Bru, A water company out of Belgium, has introduced Social Plates, which are plates that urge you to NOT take a picture of your food! The more I think about this, the more I think this is brilliant.

I bet you've been in this position... you go to dinner with someone and they are more concerned with their phone and what's on their plate than they are with you as their company. Your dinner companion is sitting there angling the food just right, taking picture after picture, trying to get that "perfect" shot for Instagram, and there you are wondering if they even heard a word you said for the last ten minutes. According to Bru, 69% of fine diners try to get that perfect picture at dinner, so the folks at Bru came up with Social Plates. The plates have hidden a QR code in the plate, so when the "photographer" goes to take a picture, the phone detects the QR code and pops up a message that reads "Nice photo! But don't forget to enjoy your dining companion as well." YES!

Will it put an end to "foodstagramming?" Probably not, but you gotta admit that it's clever!
