Tyler Reddick had one heck of a season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series! For starters, he won the first race of the year at Daytona by the closest margin in series history. That win secured him his spot in the Playoffs. During the Playoffs, he scored a top 10 finish in all but one race. Throughout the whole season, he got seven top fives and 20 top 10s. He bookended his season with another win this afternoon at Miami-Homestead, which also won him the Championship. His Championship 4 competitors finished 2nd (Cole Custer), 4th (Daniel Hemrick), and 11th (Christopher Bell). And oh, by the way... this was his ROOKIE year. Not too shabby!
Tyler drives for JR Motorsports, which is owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. This is JR's second consecutive title- the team won last year with William Byron- and their third title in the last five years. Chase Elliott won the title in 2014 driving for JR Motorsports.
Tyler also has a pretty cool connection to Country Music that you may not know about! His grandfather is Benny Brown, who founded Broken Bow Records back in 1999. The Broken Bow label group is home to Jason Aldean, Dustin Lynch, Jimmie Allen, Granger Smith, Chase Rice, Randy Houser, Kid Rock, Lindsay Ell, LoCash, and Trace Adkins, to name a few. Benny sold his label group to BMG in 2017.
Here is Tyler winning the Championship.
And here is proud team owner Dale Jr praising Tyler after the race...
Congratulations to Tyler, Dale Jr., and the whole team!
