Earlier today, Roseanne Barr sent a not-so-kind racist tweet aimed at former White House adviser Valerie Jarrett. The tweet has since been deleted, but it allegedly likened her to a child born between "muslim brotherhood" and "Planet of the Apes."
Roseanne's awful tweet was followed up with another tweet, but this time it was an apology, as Roseanne tweeted "I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste."
Apology or not, ABC made the quick decision to cancel her newly-rebooted, already-upped-for-a-second-season sitcom. ABC released this statement...
Needless to say, a firestorm of tweets has begun calling Roseanne out, including one from her co-star Sara Gilbert.
What a shame. I really enjoyed the renewed Roseanne and am sad that it has already been cancelled, but I certainly can't stand behind someone who think it's OK to make such comments. It will be interesting to see if the syndicated runs of the old Roseanne are pulled as well.
Here is a picture from her official Instagram account in happier times.
