Will Power is an amazing race car driver. He won the 2014 IndyCar Series championship and he is the most successful road and street course racer in the history of the series. As great as his long list of stats are though, a win at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway has eluded him. In 10 tries, he finished 2nd twice, but never had the win.
Until yesterday.
Yesterday, in his 11th try at running the Indy 500, Will Power won. And what a special win it was. Watch as Will takes the checkered flag, the crew talks to his equally-excited wife Liz, and then he gets out of the car in pure disbelief. In my opinion, this is one of the best Victory Lane celebrations ever! The look on his face is absolutely priceless, especially when he sees his wife for the first time after becoming an INDIANAPOLIS 500 CHAMPION!
I had the pleasure of meeting Will Power back in 2011 at Barber Motorsports Park outside of Birmingham, Alabama. He couldn't have been any nicer or more gracious. I was so excited to watch him get this win yesterday and I'm thrilled that he will forever be known as an Indy 500 champ! Congratulations, Will. Enjoy it!
