Matt Kenseth's tweet teases NASCAR world

After parting with Huntersville-based Joe Gibbs Racing at the end of the 2017 season and not getting any offers for 2018 worth taking, 2004 Champion Matt Kenseth walked away from NASCAR and retired.  And as NASCAR is in Daytona for Speed Weeks and getting a new season underway, Kenseth teased everyone by tweeting this...

This is only his second tweet since the 2017 NASCAR season ended.  His other tweet was a few weeks ago, thanking Gatorade for a great time at the Super Bowl.

So, back to the tweet with the family and the plane.  What could it mean?  Was Kenseth packing up the family and headed to Daytona after all?  Some in the NASCAR community responded...

But then nearly five hours later, the always-witty Kenseth clued us all in as to what he's really up to...

Oh, Matt!!  You teased us so!  We will certainly miss you at the Daytona 500 and beyond, but we all hope you have a wonderful time with your family.  And congratulations to Matt and Katie Kenseth, who welcomed a new baby a couple of months ago.
