Two artists on Riley Green’s team on The Voice took the stage with a classic country song. They revealed they were dating before competing against one another in the Battle rounds.

Caroline Alexis, 25, and Everett Bounds, 23, performed “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man,” by late legends Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn. The pair released the duet in 1973. Bounds said in behind-the-scenes footage, per NBC, “when I found out I was paired with Caroline, I couldn't have been happier. …When I first saw Caroline, I thought, 'Holy moly!' because she is just so beautiful.”

“Before the Blind Auditions, we met backstage, and he actually brought me flowers," Alexis said of the blossoming romance. “I was completely surprised. We had not had a whole lot of conversations at that point, but it was so sweet, and he wrote me a little handwritten note and asked me to dinner. …He definitely has a lot of qualities that I respect as a person. He is very uplifting and supportive, and that's something that's good to have as a person — and as a Battle partner.”

“That was so fun. It just felt like a throwback,” Kelly Clarkson said after the performance. “It almost felt like I was watching those, like, Dolly [Parton] and Porter [Wagoner], you know, like, just a throwback variety kind of show thing. I loved it so much. …I feel like this was pretty evenly matched.”

Coaches Adam Levine and Queen Latifah also applauded the performance before Green shared his thoughts.

“That was a lot of fun,” the country star and first-time coach said. “Y’all turned this place into a honky tonk. That’s the first time this felt like home to me.”
