Kelsea Ballerini Says Playing A Show With Her Band Again 'Felt Like Magic'

Kelsea Ballerini was happy to be back on the stage again during the 2020 iHeartCountry Festival on Friday (October 23).

The country star delivered a five-song performance featuring several special guest stars. She kicked off the set with a performance of her hit song, "Peter Pan" followed by a live collaboration of "The Other Girl" featuring Avenue Beat. Ballerini then slowed things down as she took center stage with just her guitar to single her hit, "homecoming queen?"

"How we doing? This is incredible. This is, like, such a treat. I haven’t seen my band and my crew in months like every other artist on this show. I haven't seen your faces in so long and even though it’s not in person, it means the world to me to see all these familiar faces. I love you. Thank you for always showing up no matter what," she told the virtual audience.

Following the big night, Ballerini turned to Instagram to share more of her thoughts and feelings on reuniting with her band and crew. "I’ll spare you the sap, but playing a show with my band and crew brought very real tears to my eyes," she wrote alongside a series of photos from the evening. "Thank you @iheartcountry for allowing us to safely and virtually play some music- it felt like MAGIC. (Also thank you to the astronomically talented @avenuebeat for joining me) 📸 @josephllanes"

The country star recently released her album, ballerini, which is a reimagined version of her recent album, kelsea, released in March of 2020. Ballerini features all 13 songs on Kelsea with different keys, temps, melodies, lyrics and production. She altered each song intentionally to focus more on telling a story.

Ballerini explained of the projects, "To me, Kelsea is glitter. She's bold, effervescent and her dreams are boundless. She's who I want to be. But Ballerini, she's emotional, vulnerable, soft. She observes her surroundings and chooses her words carefully. She's who I am."
