Shania Twain Opens Up About Finding The Courage To Love Again After Divorce

After Shania Twain went through her divorce with Robert (Mutt) Lange in 2008, she wasn't sure is she'd ever be able to love again.

The divorce came after the country star found out her ex-husband was having an affair with her personal assistant and best friend, Marie-Anne Thiébaud. At the time, she couldn't imagine pursuing another relationship, but after some time and healing, she slowly started to open up her heart again.

What started out as a friendship with ThiĂ©baud's ex husband, FrĂ©dĂ©ric ThiĂ©baud, slowly turned into love. "I’m so grateful I found the faith and courage to love again- because the last thing you want to do when you’re crushed is love again," Twain told People.

"When you have a great loss, you lose faith; you get very discouraged. I’m sure a lot of people say, 'I’m never going to love again. I never want to fall in love again.' Songs have been written about that. I’m really glad that that got turned around for me, and that’s what this relationship is."

Twain and Thiébaud have been married now for nine years. They got engaged in 2010 and married in 2011. "It's twisted," Twain says of her relationship. "But so beautifully twisted."

Today, Twain stays busy in several areas of life including her marriage, raising her 18-year-old son, Eja (shared with ex-husband Lange), and gearing up for her return to Vegas with her Let's Go! residency at Zappos Theater.

Twain has also recently started taking steps into acting. This year Twain will be starring in the faith-based film I Still Believe, which follows the true story of Christian music singer, Jeremy Camp.

Tickets for Twain's Let's Go! residency go on sale to the public on Friday, February 14.
