NBC began using Shelton’s song “Bringing Back the Sunshine” as its opening theme for NASCAR coverage in 2015; in 2016, Shelton re-worked the words of the song to reflect the racing environment. For 2017, the revamped song is back, and the video has appearances from more than 20 NASCAR Cup Series drivers, as well as U.S. military members from two Alabama bases interacting with Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Shelton’s new NASCAR opening theme will debut on Saturday (July 1), before the Coke Zero 400; coverage begins at 7PM ET on NBC.
