Gastonia Senior Speaks Out After Yearbook Quote Gets Censored

Julianna Coon got a surprise when she picked up her senior year yearbook at Piedmont Charter in Gastonia.

As she flipped through the pages, she saw her senior quote marked out with Sharpie. Not just in her yearbook, but every student at the school.

What was the controversial statement? "We're letting you graduate early because we don't want you here a full year."

Coon graduated in January and submitted her quote in October 2016.  She said she never received any indication her quote wouldn't be approved. She would have gladly submitted a new one, she said.

The school reimbursed Coon $60 for her yearbook, but she's extremely upset that she can't have the memory of her senior yearbook to keep for years to come.
