The Ku Klux Klan has been actively recruiting in the Queen City, leaving flyers for homeowners with information on joining.
It reads "The KK Wants You!" placed in a plastic bag full of rice and left on doorsteps. It includes contact information for those interested in joining forces.
The flyer also reads, "Wake Up America! Martin Luther King was a Communist, Adulterer and Plagiarizer. Get the facts and help put an end to all the lies!"
The same flyers are also housed on their website where they encourage members to download and pass them out "all around the World..... White Pride World Wide!!!"
Neighborhoods in Gaston County are seeing the flyers, including Cherryville and Dallas.
Cherryville police said it's a recruitment effort more than a threat and it is unclear what legal repercussions, if any, would become of it.
