Saturday afternoon was simply magical. Growing up in Kings Mountain, the Christmas parade was something my family attended and enjoyed ever since I was a young child. Paul and I had been asked to be this year's Grand Marshal and we couldn't say YES! fast enough. Before Saturday's parade, we were greeted by Kings Mountain's Mayor, Scott Neisler. With a big smile on his face, Scott said he would like to present us with one of the highest honors... a key to the city of Kings Mountain. WHAAAAAAAAAAT?!!?!??! I can't even begin to describe the emotions I felt in that moment or how much that meant to me. I'm a Mountie through and through and this is by far the highest honor I've ever received! To my surprise... this was Paul Schadt's first key to a city and of all the places it's from my home town! I am so thankful for the outpouring of support and love from my beautiful village. The parade route was lined with so many people and it was like riding Paul Schadt through a family reunion as I pointed and said "There's my first grade teacher, there's our Mountie Basketball coach, there's my sister, niece, nephew and cousin... this is Patriots Park and so on.... There's always something magical about this season and this honor is most magical of all!
