Remember the song "Old Town Road" that charted on Country charts only to later be removed because the song wasn't "country?" Well, that song (Old Town Road) became a fan favorite and has now become the title holder for the longest running number 1 song in history. Crazy right?! What does this have to do with Blake Shelton?
In Blake Shelton's new single "Hell Right" featuring Trace Adkins, he references the song in his lyrics. "Then the girl from the small town took off the "Old Town," put on a little Hank Jr, Thank God." Fans immediately took this as a diss to Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road." According to Blake, it's no diss at all. Because the song is extremely popular he is drawing attention to how much it's "overplayed."
Lil Nas X took to Twitter commenting "It don't Slap like Old Town Road Tho" but later deleted his Twitter comment.
Regardless of the intention of the line, Blake's new song is pretty good. And putting that line in his new song created more publicity so take it as a win and move on!
