Charlotte, North Carolina has been chosen as the host city of the 2020 Republican National Convention, according to Nevada GOP Chair Michael McDonald.
The RNC Site Selection Committee made it official on Wednesday after voting in a closed session in Austin, Texas. The RNC will confirm the pick on Friday.
According to sources, the committee unanimously voted in favor of the Queen City to host the convention.
The Charlotte City Council approved to host the convention with a 6 to 5 vote on Monday night.
Mayor Vi Lyles and other city council members are expected to be in attendance for the announcement in Austin at the end of the week.
