One day after Tim McGraw's former tour-mate, Kenny Chesney, announced his return to Charlotte, McGraw announced his Two Lanes of Freedom tour complete with a stop in Charlotte.

Tim McGraw will perform at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on Thursday, May 3.  He will be joined by Brantley Gilbert and Love and Theft.

McGraw, who is in the middle of a Las Vegas residency with his wife Faith Hill, last performed in Charlotte in June of 2012 with Kenny Chesney at Bank of America Stadium on the Brothers of the Sun Tour.

After his stint in Vegas, McGraw will hit the road to promote his Two Lanes of Freedom album which releases on February 5.  McGraw says the themes from the record will extend to the tour:

"This album marks a new sense of excitement and artistic freedom for me, and I really wanted to extend that same feeling to the tour and create a cool vibe for the fans.  Let's leave anything that might be weighing us down out in the parking lot and spend a few hours together feeling alive and free."

Brantley Gilbert spent a little time in Charlotte in 2012.  He performed with Toby Keith and also played at Kat Country Jam.  Love and Theft has also spent some time in Charlotte.  Eric Gunderson, one half of Love and Theft, grew up in Charlotte.

Ticket information will be announced at a later date.
